Every animal that gets submersed in the water of Lake Natron will die and calcify, in other words they will turn to stone. Both of these projects would severely affect the delicate environmental balance of Lake Natron. Unless you are an alkaline tilapia, which is a fish that has adapted to extreme conditions, you would not want to go near this lake. A hydroelectric plant on the Ewaso River is under consideration. Unfortunately, projected logging activities also threaten to disrupt the delicate salinity balance. The species adapted to its unique environment cannot survive elsewhere.
